For the first release from Dangerbox Recordings Artificial Dreamer brings us the Mau5over EP. The release comes with two tracks Grilled Cheese that ships with 5 remixes and the title track Mau5over. With all tracks scattered across the progressive realm this release is sounding great.
The title track 'Mau5over' is a perfect example of the Artificial Dreamer sound with the glitchy samples and dirty dirty bass line. The track has a nice driving feeling to it that makes me want to get up and dance on the bus. Although I think people might find me a little strange. There are similar elements in both tracks that let you know that they were made to go together. Coming in at under six minutes the track is built for the faster mixes you get in progressive house.
Grilled Cheese sets the pace with the original mix. It has a groovy bass line and a catchy melody that keeps replaying in your head even after the track has stopped. The track flows nicely and would work well as a pick me up track in a set.
Ruslan B is first on remix duties for Grilled Cheese where he speeds up the track ever so slightly and gives it a little more of a trance feel. He keeps the melody and groove intact but gives it a more main room feel. I'd drop this track near the start of a tasty tasty trance set.
Next on the remix is Michael Badal giving it a nice infusion of progressiveness. I dropped this track on my last radio show. It worked well as an opener. The slightly different take on the melody really ramps up the sound giving it that extra punch I was looking for with that set.
Oxid Project kicks it up a notch with a more trance like sound coming through. The distinctive stabs and atmospheric melody really lets you know you're in trance land. With a gritty and punchy bass line this remix would find its way nicely into the first half of a long set.
Zoltan Kontes is on final remix duties for Grilled Cheese giving it the house treatment. The remix is listed as a straight house remix although it is most definitely a progressive track. By slowing it down just a tad and giving it a grindy progressive house sound Zoltan Kontes has completed the remixes off nicely. At just over six minutes in length its the sort of track you'd quick mix to give the crowd a nice little wake up call.
Artificial Dreamer has been producing up a storm lately delivering some great tracks in both the progressive and trance scenes. It's been a while since I've liked every track in an EP so it was a delight to review this release. If you want some dirty beats to wake up the crowds or listeners grab this awesome release out on DangerBox on the 11th of July at all good digital download stores.
Digitalchild loves his dance music. If he's not talking about it, he's spinning it and if he's not spinning it, he's listening to it. He is also the guy that makes the light go on and off.
