Sony's 'In The Mix' Crowns Top Aussie Talent

From the land 'down under' comes plenty of dance music talent.  In The Mix has just released it's results for it's annual Top 50 of the hottest performers, which is Australia's own version of the popular DJ Mag Top 100.

This year found a record 20,000+ voters plugging for their favorites which is an increase of over 30% from last year, showing a wonderful surge in Australia's dance community.

Typically the top slot has been awarded to a DJ from NSW, but a hard working 21yr old superstar from Queensland rose up 3 places from last year landing none other than tyDi as Australia's #1 of 2008.  Having held down a residency at the famed superclub Family, as well as playing all the major festivals around the country, it's no wonder he's grown in popularity over the past year.  Ontop of the busy tour schedule he's made quite a mark in the international scene signing tracks to Armin van Buuren's "Armada" label, Markus Schulz' "Coldharbour", and most recently a forthcoming EP on Andy Moor's "AVA Recordings".  It's also worth a mention that tyDi has also pulled another trick from his bag and snagged down the #2 slot for Top Producer, trailing the brilliant Dirty South.

When asked how he felt about his new achievement, a modest tyDi stated he was "surprised" and "incredibly grateful to have such wonderful support from such loyal fans".

A rundown of the Top 50 can be found here, with special mention going to Dirty South (10) and Dancenode resident DJ Syke (39).  The list for Top Producer can be found here, and a breakdown of the top ranked club nights in Australia can be found here.
